According to International Breweries Plc, it has donated relief supplies worth millions of naira to flood victims in several impacted towns in Onitsha and its surroundings. This, according to a statement, was done in reaction to the humanitarian catastrophe brought on by floods in several regions of the nation.
The flood disaster victims who benefited from the assistance were in Anambra State’s Ogbaru Local Government Area during the weekend.
According to a statement from the corporation, the assistance supplies include cartons of vegetable oil, cartons of noodles, branded bags of rice, cartons of spaghetti, and cartons of malt beverages. Damian Igwe, Corporate Affairs Manager for International Breweries Plc, expressed sympathy to the populace and the Anambra State Government for the loss of lives and property at the presentation of the items.

He said, “This is one of our corporate social responsibility interventions. The intention is to support the displaced persons in Ogbaru LGA through the donation of relief materials, majorly groceries.
“We are moved by the pain of the people and are only demonstrating the compassion that a socially responsible organization should demonstrate at a time like this.”
Fidelis Igwe, Plant Manager of International Breweries Plc in Onitsha, highlighted that the Ogbaru community has been a good host to the firm and said that the company felt it was its duty to support them during this challenging time.
He said, “It is good we reciprocate the good gesture when it is needed. We thought it important to give the community something to keep them going.”
Chinedu Okosa, the camp manager, thanked International Breweries Plc for the gift after accepting it. According to Okosa, all 1,046 displaced people from 647 homes had taken up residence in the two structures that had been offered by Hon. Chuchu Onyema, who represents the Ogbaru Federal Constituency.
Okaloosa pleaded with the state and the Ogbaru Local Governments to help the displaced people more because their suffering was getting worse by the day due to a lack of facilities in the camp.
Miss Chioma Okeke, one of the displaced, expressed excitement at returning home to resume her studies.
“I have lost a lot academically because I am supposed to be in school with others learning. My community is blocked off from the rest of the world,” she said.
