Insecurity: Northern Elders cry out over killing and destruction
The Northern Elders for Peace and Development has talked about insecurity in the North as the killing, destructions are getting alarming.
Northern elders have cried again over the level of insecurity in the region, saying the development is really getting out of hand as urgent action is not taken to arrest it.
Alleging the killing of security personnel and civilians, and also the destruction of properties is alarming since the beginning of this year, the elders claimed that the actual developments ongoing in the region is really downplayed.
The Northern Elders for Peace and Development, in a statement by their national coordinator, Engr. Zana Goni, however, declared their utmost support to the president that no ransom or negotiation should be paid to the bandits again.

The Elders further said disclosed that the two ingredients fueling the abduction and various atrocities committed by the bandits are ransom and negotiation.
“We wish to draw the attention of these unpatriotic elements to the fact that engaging in this unwholesome act and at the same time expecting a different result is impossible,” the group said in the statement.
“As a people trusted with security by Mr President, they should be patriotic to tell him the true situation of security in the North East in particular and Northern Nigeria as a whole at all time, rather than desperately trying to cover up the situation to the detriment of human lives and property,” they said.
The elders charged:
”Those trusted with security and welfare of our people must be sincere in briefing Mr President so that he can give them the needed support and logistics to crush the worrisome situation once and for all.”
The elders also alleged that some online media deny the public knowing the true security situation, thereby going with false report of the situation as they were being used by public officers.
“We wish to advise those unpatriotic online media who are embellishing the situation is the North East and some parts of Northern Nigeria for personal gains that they have just one country.
The northern elders “appeal to all the Northern Governors to adopt Mr President’s position on no negotiation and amnesty for the bandits.”
Moreover, The elders vowed never to be silent in the face of the worsening insecurity in their region given that farmers were not going to their farms again beside the inability of residents to sleep with their eyes closed life in the past.
