The Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai has stated that even if his son was Kidnapped he will not pay any ransom to bandits

The Governor stated this while speaking on a radio interview

He said, “I mean it and I will say it again here. Even if my son is kidnapped, I will rather pray for him to make heaven instead because I won’t pay any ransom.”

The governor who promised to prosecute anyone negotiating with the bandits in the name of government said his government is “absolutely not paying ransom” but considering other means to ensure the students are returned to their parents.

However,  10 out of the 39 abducted students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation Afaka in the Igabi Local Government Area of the state have been released by the bandits who abducted them on the 11th of March 2021.

The first set of five students were firstly released on the 5th  of April 2021 barely 72 hours later, another set of five students were also released by the bandits on Thursday evening.

The state government however promised that it will ensure that the students are released form the captivity of the bandits and returned to their parents.
