No doubt Chelsea is already planning to strengthen their squad ahead of next season despite achieving success in Europe this term. The move to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund ‘for months has been recorded by a reporter, Simon Johnson from The Athletic.
Haaland is one of the best strikers in the world, despite being just 20-years-old. With Chelsea in desperate need of a reliable goalscorer, you’d assume that the idea of signing the Norwegian has been discussed at Stamford Bridge.
It appears as though it has, too. Jan Aage Fjortoft today took to Twitter to provide an update on Chelsea’s efforts to sign the Borussia Dortmund superstar in the upcoming summer transfer window.
#CFC have been working on Haaland for months, as reported in January: https://t.co/PrAEFauRXX
The question is Dortmund…a source recently told me that them qualifying for the CL had ruled out a sale, especially with Sancho first in line to go. But CFC were always going to try. https://t.co/zU3ppAg0jJ— Simon Johnson (@SJohnsonSport) June 7, 2021
Some Chelsea fans believe the prospect of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland sealing a move to Stamford Bridge this summer is written in the stars.
Despite signing Germany striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig in a deal worth around £50million last summer, finding a consistent source of goals has proven difficult for the Blues in the last 12 months.
Chelsea is already planning to strengthen their squad ahead of next season despite achieving success in Europe this term.
The Blues have been crowned the kings of Europe after winning the Champions League, but after finishing fourth in the Premier League, they will be desperate to challenge for a domestic title next season.
And to do that, they might just need a top striker, and that is their number one priority heading into the summer transfer window, which begins next month.
But it will not prove easy with Romelu Lukaku looking set to stay at Inter and with Erling Haaland currently priced at somewhere near £150million, a figure few teams can achieve post-pandemic.
