Ibori Loots: Delta -Accountant-General receives £4.2m

Following the release of Ibori loots, the Accountant General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris said the £4.2m looted by James Ibori, a former Governor of Delta State, which the Federal Government recently repatriated from the United Kingdom, has been returned to the state.

Ibori Loots: Delta -Accountant-General receives £4.2m

Following the release of Ibori loots, the Accountant General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris said the £4.2m looted by James Ibori, a former Governor of Delta State, which the Federal Government recently repatriated from the United Kingdom, has been returned to Delta state.

He made the announcement while peaking before the House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee on Assessment and Status of All Recovered Loots Movable and Immovable Assets from 2002 to 2020 by Agencies of the Federal Government of Nigeria for Effective Efficient Management and Utilisation.

Moreso, the Accountant-General having received grilling stated that looted funds as this are always returned to the state.

You will recall that the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami says bank documentation has been the cause of the delay in transferring some of £4.2 million seized from associates of convicted former Governor of Delta State James Ibori to Nigeria.

“Documentations with the banks in different countries often take longer than anticipated. We anticipated two weeks but we are not in control of the banks,” Malami said.
