My relationship with Ike was a disaster - Mercy Eke

The winner of the 2019 BBNaija reality TV,  Mercy Eke has stated that she sold corn, fuel, and engaged in other menial jobs before she becomes famous.

The reality star spoke on Sunday at the 8th edition of the Nigerian Entertainment Conference (NEC).

The virtual conference themed ‘Building the Future’ was hosted by Bolanle Olukanni, and convened by Adekunle Ayeni, founder of Black House Media.

During the event, Eke said her journey to fame didn’t happen overnight but as a product of hard work and consistency.

“Sometimes it gets me very emotional to see how far I have come from where I started. From selling corn to fuel to a lot of things I did before this Mercy,” she said.

“I am proud of myself, and a lot of people are proud of me and looking up to me. Where I am today is through my hard work. I haven’t done anything yet, I still have so many big dreams to achieve.

“Being famous and having fans is a way two way thing. You have to know how to balance them. I am not famous because I want to be famous, I am famous because I want to work on myself. Because I want to be somebody, and that is why I auditioned for big brother four times.

“Having fans is a give and take situation, you have to have something to give for you to receive. A lot of people want to be famous without having directions.”
