Hulk Hogan is probably one of the most famous wrestlers. He is credited with being one of the key players in WWF’s expansion as a national force and then as an international force led by Vince McMahon. McMahon transformed him into an American hero with his great physique and natural charisma. His spectacular performances in marquee games such as Wrestlemania showpieces have further fueled his popularity. - Linda Bollea (1981-2007) – Hulk Hogan first began dating Linda Claridge in 1981. They had first met at a restaurant in Los Angeles and began dating soon after. They married in December 1983. In May 1988 she gave birth to their daughter Brooke Hogan. In July 1990, she gave birth to their son, Nick. In November 2007, she filed for divorce. Linda later revealed that she didn’t want to live with him anymore after finding out about his affair. In his autobiography, he claimed that Linda suspected him of having affairs when he formed friendships with other women. However, he insisted that he had never cheated on his wife.

- He is the first professional wrestler to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine.
- He was approached to endorse George Foreman Grill but decided against it. The product sold over 100 million copies.
- During his childhood he played as a pitcher in American Championship baseball . He was good enough to attract the attention of the Cincinnati Reds and New York Yankees Boy Scouts . However, his baseball career came to a screeching halt after an injury.
- At the age of 16 he started looking at professional wrestling. He often attended wrestling events at the Tampa Sportatorium.
- Before deciding to become a wrestler, he was an aspiring musician. He played fretless bass guitar in various Florida music bands for about a decade.
- In 1976 he teamed up with two local musicians to form a musical band called Krawall . His band of music gained quite a following in the Tampa Bay area.
- In his absence from music and bands, he trained at Hector’s Gym in the Tampa Bay area. He also started lifting at Hector.
- Hogan was introduced to wrestling by Brisco Brothers. They asked Hiro Matsuda, who trained wrestlers he worked for Florida-based Championship Wrestling (CWF) , to intern Hogan. They also asked Hogan to try it.
- In the late 1970’s he started out as the manager of The Anchor Club, a private club in Florida. He also developed a close friendship with club owner Whitey Bridges and worked with him to open the Whitey and Terry Are Olympic Gym.
- By 1978 he was depressed with his work and was longing to return to wrestling and decided to get in touch with his idol superstar Billy Graham in hopes of finding wrestling work outside of Florida. Graham helped him join Louie Tillet’s territory in Alabama.
- His great performances in Alabama soon attracted attention and after a show for the Continental Wrestling Association (CWA) in Memphis, the CWA promoter offered him permanent employment for his promotion and offered him an $800-week wage. Tillet paid him $175 a week. So he accepted the work of CWA.
- In late 1979, Hulk met WWF promoter Vincent J. McMahon, who was impressed with Bollea’s physique and charisma. It was McMahon who asked him to use Hulk Hogan as his stage name. He also wanted Hogan to dye his hair red, but Hogan decided against it as his hair was already falling out.
- In 1981 he left the WWF and joined the American Wrestling Association. He was unhappy with McMahon over his decision to work in Sylvester Stallone’s film. Rocky III
- In 1983, after Vince McMahon bought the WWF from his father, Vincent J. McMahon, he decided to re-sign Hulk Hogan and use him to expand his promotion nationwide.
- In January 1984, he won his first WWF World Heavyweight Championship by defeating The Iron Sheik at the legendary Madison Square Garden. He also made history in that match by being the first man to escape the Camel Hitch (the Iron Sheikh’s final move).
- The backstory of Hulk’s first championship win was that original champion Bob Backlund had refused to cede his title to Hogan and insisted that he would only lose his title to someone with a legitimate wrestling background. So the promotion had to transfer the title to The Iron Sheik first for Hogan to win it.
- In 1988’s Marvel Comics Presents #45 , Marvel decided to throw Hulk against The Incredible Hulk, who ended up throwing Hogan through the arena’s roof for choosing the wrong name.
- He has done extensive work for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, a children’s charity. In the 80s he was one of the most sought-after celebrities.
- In March 1987, he created one of the most iconic moments in Wrestlemania history when he scored a body slam against the 520-pound giant Andre in a championship match at Wrestlemania III .
- In 1991, Hulk became the first wrestler to win two consecutive Royal Rumble matches. That same year he also defeated Sgt. Slaughter at Wrestlemania VII to win his 3rd WWF Championship.
- In June 1994 he joined Ted Turner World Championship Wrestling . In his debut match for promotion, he took on Ric Flair for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship and managed to win it.
- In 1995 he opened his restaurant called Pastamania on the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. The restaurant offers dishes like Hulk-A-Roos and Hulk-U’s . However, it was closed within a year of opening.
- In 2006 he brought his exclusive energy drink range under the label. Launched Hogan Energy Formerly in association with Socko Energy .
- Wal-Mart has used his name and likeness to create a line of products that includes microwaveable cheeseburgers, hamburgers, and chicken sandwiches. The line of products is called the Hulkster Burger .
- Hogan opened a restaurant called Hogan’s Beach on New Year’s Eve 2012 in the Tampa Bay area. In October 2015, the restaurant decided to drop Hogan from the name.
- In March 2016, he won a lawsuit alleging loss of privacy, defamation and emotional pain against Gawker. The publication had released a short clip of his s*x tape with Heather Clam. The court ordered Gawker to pay Hogan $115 million.
- In August 2016, he was given control of AJ Daulerio’s fortune, who was Gawker’s editor-in-chief when the video was released in October 2012. In November 2016, the publication managed to secure a $31 million final settlement with Hogan.
- In 2005, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame . He had previously been inducted into the Bundeswehr Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2003.
- During his appearance on The Howard Stern Show in 2012, he claimed to have offered him the lead role in The Wrestler. But he decided to turn it down as he felt it wasn’t best suited for the role. However, the film’s director, Darren Aronofsky, denied his claims, insisting he wasn’t even considered for the role, let alone offered the part.
- During the infamous WWF steroids study in 1994, he admitted under oath that he had been using anabolic steroids to gain weight and height since 1976. However, he cleared Vince McMahon, who was on trial, of all blame and insisted that he had neither sold him drugs nor ordered him to take any.
