- At the age of 6 he started as a goalkeeper. He played in that position continuously for two years. He then alternated between striker and goalkeeper for some time before finally settling on the goalkeeper role after joining Nice’s academy.
- In his youth he was an excellent tennis talent and was considered one of the best talents of youth. However, at the age of 13 he decided to give up tennis and focus exclusively on football.
- He started playing football when he was 6 CEDAC (Centre de Diffusion et d’Action Culturelle) The cultural center in Nice offers a range of activities including football.
- In August 2010, it was announced that he would be starring alongside Karim Benzema on the cover of FIFA 11’s French Version.
- Hugo was recommended to Nice by Dominique Baratelli, former France international and ONG Nice goalkeeper. He was signed by the Nice Academy at the age of 10.
