How 21-year-old Diploma Holder Jumps Into Lagos Lagoon, leaving family in dismay

There have been mixed reactions following the death of a 21-year-old Diploma holder who jumps into Lagos Lagoon, leaving a painful message for his 1-year-old son and also his family in dismay.

According to a source, while speaking with newsmen, said Olalekan was a worker at Alaro City, a mega estate along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, after leaving home on the morning of the ill-fated Tuesday headed to his girlfriend’s apartment and told her to take care of their 1-year-old baby because they may never see each other again.

“He also told his girlfriend who is 19-year old to take care of his baby. Thereafter, he left to the bridge side to commit suicide, without giving any reason for such action to his family,” the source lamented.

More so, it was painfully gathered that before he left home, his family members tried to stop him after he strangely told them that he was going without explaining what he meant.

According to Legitng, Olalekan was said to be a holder of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) certificate and a worker at Alaro City, a sprawling mega estate along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

A family friend further narrated: “For some time now, Olalekan has been acting strangely. For more than a week, he couldn’t sleep. He just woke up yesterday (Tuesday) to say he was going. They asked him, ‘going where?

“They tried to hold him but he overpowered the people around because he was very powerful, maybe it was a spiritual attack. We could not ascertain that. He just woke up and said he was going and that they should pray for him.

They held him but he overpowered them and went straight to his girlfriend’s house to tell her to take care of his child because they might not see each other again,” The DailyTrust explained.

Meanwhile, when asked how the guy recording the situation on how he could not save him at the scene, a family friend responded, “The person that made the video was alerted by the motorists on Lekki-Epe expressway and he was walking towards him while recording but he could not catch up with him.

“The guy was far away from him. He was about to hold him when he jumped inside the river. Nobody could hold him there except somebody who can swim.”
