Honor Blackman
Not only did she play the most iconic Bond girl, she also starred in “The Avengers,” one of the most popular British series of all time. Actress Honor Blackman passed away on April 6, 2020, at the age of 94, at her residence in Lewes, Sussex County. “She was very loved and will be greatly missed by her two children Barnaby and Lottie, and her grandchildren Daisy, Oscar, Olive and Toby,” explains her family’s statement, which highlights her “extraordinary combination of beauty, brains and strength physical”.
Born on August 22, 1925 in London, Honor Blackman studied at the Ealing Girls’ School and specialized in acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in the British capital.
He began to stand out in British cinema, in Strange Happening , alongside Dirk Bogarde , and The Last Night of the Titanic . But she became a celebrity when she was cast in the second season of the TV series The Avengers as Dr. Cathy Gale, a self-assured anthropologist who was an expert in judo and had a passion for leather clothing. Her work impressed Albert R. Broccoli, producer of the 007 saga, who cast her as stunt pilot Pussy Galore, fearsome henchman to villain Gert Fröbe , in James Bond vs. Goldfinger , starring Sean Connery .. Fans remember her as one of the most unforgettable characters in the entire franchise.
Divorced from Bill Sankey, she joined fellow actor Maurice Kaufmann , with whom she had two children. She was also the vengeful goddess Hera, in Jason and the Argonauts , a milestone in fantastic cinema. Although she never held star status, Honor Blackman played numerous roles, in titles like The First Machine Gun in the West , The Cat and the Canary or The Taken Nun , and she went through series like Doctor Who . She remained active for many years, as she was a cheeky neighbor of the protagonist in Bridget Jones’s Diary , and she retired in 2015, after a role in the series You, Me & Them .
