Hiroshi Tanahashi is a Japanese professional wrestler, TV personality, bodybuilder, blogger and actor, best known as the 8-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion for the New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) organization. He is also known for holding the record for the most successful title defenses in the organization with 11 overall. He held the record until May 5, 2018, more than seven years after winning his 5th heavyweight title against Satoshi Kojima on January 4, 2011. As of June 2019, Hiroshi is also a two-time IWGP Intercontinental Champion, 3-time NIE Openweight 6-man tag team champion, and 2-time IWGP tag team champion, and won the G1 Climax tournament in 2007, 2015, and 2018 .
Before beginning to enjoy his time as a professional wrestler in Japan, he devoted himself full-time to the NJPW . He also went on an outing and made his North American debut in September 2005 with the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) organization. - Hitomi Hara (2002) – His relationship with a news reporter for TV Asahibecame very popular in 2002, but for all the wrong reasons. Early in his wrestling career, Hiroshi was stabbed in the back by Hitomi in a fit of rage. The incident threatened to end his career and was covered by all major media outlets in Japan.
