Bbnaija S7 housemate, Hermes has stirred up mixed reactions on social media as some profess support for the dancer and some accuse him of using a pity strategy, which according to them, would not move them to vote.
Who is Hermes Bbnaija?
Hermes, who was introduced as part of the second batch of housemates on Sunday, is currently the most talked-about housemate on social media right now. From high search volumes on Google and Twitter to a minute-to-minute increase in his Instagram followers to mixed reactions in comment sections, Hermes is definitely on the lips of many.

Hermes’s entrance into the house was met with huge celebrations as fans loved his “originality” and “Energy”. Speaking with the show host, Ebuka, before entering the house, he mentioned that he is bringing fun and originality to the show. Hermes has attracted many fans and supporters for several reasons, including his polyamorous relationship life, dance career, previous activism, and energy on the show.

Upon his entrance to the show on Sunday, Hermes disclosed to viewers that he has two girlfriends (lovers) who know each other. Hermes is a popular dancer who has featured in music videos with top Nigerian celebrities like Davido and Zinoleesky. Some fans have dug out clips of him in Burna Boy’s Vanilla and Buju’s Finesse music videos.
Activism
The housemate was a hero a few years ago when a video of him getting mad at the presence of a robbery gang in his residential area surfaced online.
In the video, Hermes could be seen chanting about how he would not allow the gang (One Million Boys) to thrive in Oworo Town. Here’s the footage below:

Hermes has been tagged the “Male Liquorose” of this season as both dancers share a lot in common. Like Liquorose in season 6, Hermes is already showcasing his dance moves in the house as he served as their gym instructor for the first day.
Some fans have already crowned him their winner in the comment section of clips on social media.
How it’s Going: Why Some Viewers Dislike Him
Despite his originality which some appreciate, Hermes is disliked by some other followers of the Bbnaija show.
In a series of posts and comments, viewers have expressed distaste for Hermes’s winning strategy which they claim is a lost cause already. They accused the housemate of using his past and present stories to win the hearts of Nigerians.
This reaction was stirred when videos of Hermes’s place of residence were discovered on his social media page. The house looked rather small and modest, and just when some viewers raised concerns over how Hermes really needed to win to change his status, some condemned the talks, claiming that it was simply a strategy that wouldn’t work this time.
Videos of him crying earlier this year over the disappearance of his mother have also been reposted and while some pledge allegiance to him over the incident, some maintain that Bbnaija votes should not be based on such happenings.
What We Know about Hermes’s Strategy
After thorough research on the past happenings in Hermes’s life which some claim is a strategy, here’s what we know.
A video of Hermes crying about the disappearance of his mother went viral on February 27, 2022, after a popular Nigerian blogger (Instablog9ja) helped publicize the post. His mother, who was suffering from Dementia was taken to Yaba Psychiatric Hospital by his brother who left her at the hospital to get the prescribed drugs. Upon his return, their mother was missing and this moved Hermes to make the now-viral video.
The incident was reported by popular media outfits like PUNCH and attracted sympathy from Nigerians.
On March 2, 2022, he posted a video of his mother by the roadside where she was found the same day and later taken for treatment. Since then, Hermes has not failed to upload pictures and videos of his mother, attracting so much love and compassion from fans.
RNN has however discovered that the comment sections of those old videos are filled with fans who promise votes as a result of the incident.
We are however not aware of any of these incidents being a strategy as many claim it to be.
