Heather Menzies-Urich

She played the 13-year-old daughter (one of the middle ones) of Colonel Von Trapp, in the legendary “The Sound of Music”, although she barely returned to work in the cinema afterwards. Heather Menzies-Urich, she died on Christmas Day 2017 at the age of 68 at her home, as a result of cancer, which she was diagnosed with four weeks ago.

Born on December 3, 1949 in Toronto (Canada), when she was 11 years old her family moved to the United States. While studying at the institute, she was selected to play Louisa Von Trapp in the celebrated musical, in 1965. The following year, she returned to share the screen with  Julie Andrews  in the drama  Hawaii .

After some minor title,  Heather Menzies-Urich  specialized in secondary roles for the small screen in the 70s, taking part in successful series of the time, such as  Bonanza  or  Harrelson’s men . She was also the daughter of a mad scientist in the horror film  Hiss of Death , from 1973.  She was also the protagonist of the horror film  Piranha , by  Joe Dante , where she played an investigator who was looking for several missing young people.

Divorced from John Cluett, she fell in love with fellow actor  Robert Urich  when they played a television commercial together. They both had three children, and participated together in the  Las Vegas series , and  Spencer, a private detective , who made her husband a world celebrity. She retired after an episode of  American Dreamer , from 1990.
