Harve Presnell, actor and singer, rose to fame in the 1960s, in a couple of titles, and in the 1990s he returned to the movies as a luxury secondary. Presnell passed away at the age of 75 on June 30, 2009, as a result of pancreatic cancer from which he had suffered for some time.

Born on September 14, 1933 in Modesto (California), George Harvey Presnell studied at USC (University of Southern California). He made his debut at the age of 16, as an opera singer with a baritone register. During a recital at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, he caught the attention of the legendary musical composer Meredith Wilson, who wrote the role of Johnny ‘Leaddville’ Brown for him in the musical  Molly Brown Always Afloat . After obtaining great success with this production on the Broadway stage, together with Debbie Reynolds , both reprized the role in the cinema. Presnell also appeared in a few television episodes of series like  Alfred Hitchcock Presents .

Harve Presnell also appeared in one of the great commercial disasters of the 1960s,  Legend of the Nameless City , where he was cast to make up with his prodigious voice for the fact that the leads – Clint Eastwood , Lee Marvin and Jean Seberg – weren’t exactly great. musical stars. Presnell’s big moment in the film is his rendition of “They Call the Wind Maria.” In the late 1970s, he left movies and concentrated on productions of musicals, such as ‘Annie’ and a musical version of  Gone with the Wind  in which he played Rhett Butler .

In the mid-90s, Presnell returned to the movies, as a supporting actor. He played the father-in-law of William H. Macy in Fargo . The experience was so good that he multiplied his appearances in numerous television series and movies such as An Elephant Named True ,  Sealed Chamber ,  Face to Face ,  Saving Private Ryan ,  The Legend of Bagger Vance , Family Man ,  Mr. Deeds , and  I’m Going on as God . Presnell is survived by Veeva Suzanne Hamblen, who was his partner since 1966, when he divorced his wife, Sherri, with whom he had 3 children.
