He became very popular as Judge Harry Stone, in the nine seasons of “Court Duty.” Police found the body of Harry Anderson, 65, at his home in Asheville, North Carolina, with no signs of violence, on April 14, 2018. “I interviewed him when he was 15, and despite the fact that for He was a star then, he was very friendly, frank and funny. He made millions of people very happy with his talent, ”commented Judd Apatow, producer and director specializing in comedy.

Born on October 14, 1952, in Newport, Rhode Island, Harry Laverne Anderson graduated from North Hollywood High School as the valedictorian of his class. He then prepared himself to work as a magician, starting from the bottom, doing tricks in the middle of the street in exchange for a few coins.

Finally they recruited him for the famous television program  Saturday Night Live , where he triumphed for his gifts for humor. So much so that the producers of  Cheers , the current fashion series, recruited him to play the magician Harry “The Hat” Gittes, a character who appeared in several seasons.

Due to the recognition of his work on the sitcom, NBC executives gave the green light to his own sitcom, Duty  Court , where he played a young magistrate, in charge of the night shift at a Manhattan criminal court, who was distinguished for his passion for performing magic tricks. The series became one of the network’s mainstays for nine seasons.

Following its completion, he starred  in Dave’s World , for four seasons. He was the prankster of the group of  It protagonists , Richie Tozier, in the corresponding miniseries, the first adaptation of the Stephen King work. He also participated as a supporting role in television productions such as  Parker Lewis Never Loses ,  Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman ,  Tales from the Crypt  and  Rockefeller Plaza .

In 2000,  Harry Anderson  left Hollywood, moving to New Orleans, where he opened Sideshow, a magic shop, and Oswald’s Speakeasy, a nightclub where he performed his own acts. After the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina in 2006, he moved to North Carolina. He temporarily left his acting retirement in 2014 to star in the independent film  A Matter of Faith .

The actor and magician leaves behind Elizabeth Morgan, his wife since 2000, and their two children, Dashiel and Eva. The latter is the daughter of his first wife, Leslie Pollack, and works as a television scriptwriter on titles such as  You’re the Worst .
