Hal Needham was considered one of the great specialists of cinema. The also director of titles such as “Los locos del Cannonball” died on October 25, 2013, at the age of 82, in Los Angeles from cancer.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, on March 6, 1931, Hal Brett Needham fought in the Korean War. Later he ended up as a model for advertisements for a cigarette company and became a specialist. He first served as a regular stunt performer for actor Richard Boone on the television series Have Gun , Will Travel .

After undergoing training with the legendary Chuck Roberson, the voice actor for John Wayne , he began to lavish himself in feature films, especially in westerns such as How the West was Won , The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance , The Hanging Judge or Little Big Man . . During the performance of his work, he broke a bone 56 times, fractured his back twice, and on one occasion his lung was punctured. But he was considered one of the best in his profession.

After taking care of the dangerous scenes of Burt Reynolds , he became a great friend of the interpreter. He ended up becoming the director of the film in which he starred , Los cheeky , and his sequel, Vuelven los cheeky , which were very successful. He also dealt with the realization in the actor’s film Los locos del Cannonball , and in its sequel Los locos del Cannonball II .

Divorced from Dani Crayne, he was married to Ellyn Wynne Wynne Williams until his death. Hall Needham was awarded the Honorary Science Oscar for his design of the Shotmaker Elite camera-vehicle, widely used in action sequences. He was given it by Quentin Tarantino , a self-declared big fan of the stuntman.
