Hafthor Bjornsson is an Icelandic strongman, former basketball player and actor. He started his career as a basketball player from 2004 to 2006. He had played with Division I team Breiðablik and later joined FSu in 2005. Following this he transferred to Premier League KR in 2006 where he played played despite his ankle injury which led him to undergo serious surgery. However, he returned to FSu in 2007 after recovering and missed several seasons in 2007-08 which forced him to retire.

The strongman was born on November 26, 1988 as Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson in Reykjavík, Iceland under the zodiac sign Sagittarius. He is the son of his parents Björn and Ragnheiður who are both very tall. Moreover, he grew up with his sister named Hafdís Lind Björnsdóttir. He has an Icelandic nationality and belongs to an unknown ethnicity.
