A genius of crime, a creator of intrigue, after his idyll with Madonna it was proven that Guy Ritchie was made to direct that genre that is so difficult to do well as is the criminal thriller. Capable of taking the tension to a new level, he never lets his cards be seen, always has an ace up his sleeve and handles the action as if it were a puppeteer.

Born on September 10, 1968 in Hatfield, England. The youngest son of John Ritchie and Amber Perkinson, he studied at the Stanbridge Earls School, a specialized center in the United Kingdom for treating dyslexia, which he has suffered since he was a child.

He took his first steps as a director shooting commercials and shorts, such as The Hard Case , with which he made his debut and in which he already showed signs of the criminal environment that would characterize his films. Three years after his initiation, he recorded his debut feature, Lock & Stock (1998), starring a very young Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones . With clear influences from one of his idols, Quentin Tarantino , he mixes comedy with criminal intrigue, accompanied by a fast-paced soundtrack, with which Ritchie guides the action as he pleases.

After the fame that this acquired, his next project arrived in the year 2000, the magnificent Snatch. Pigs and Diamonds , with which she managed to match the success of her predecessor, managing to put Guy on the international scene. Starring Benicio del Toro , Dennis Farina , Brad Pitt and again their fetish actors Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones . Thanks to his producer and wife from Sting , Trudie Styler, he met the American singer, Madonna , whom he married that same year.

His next works were done together with his wife, whom he directed in the music video “What It Feels Like for a Girl”,  The Hire: Star and Swept Away , a remake of a successful film by Lina Wertmüller from the 1980s. 60, which proved a critical disaster and a career setback for Ritchie. In 2005 he shot  Revolver , a film with which he tried to recover his style, without much success. Already divorced from the “queen of pop” and focused again on directing, he premiered  RocknRolla in 2008, a criminal thriller with which he regained prestige with critics and the public. In it, he has actors of the stature of Gerald Butler, Tom Hardy, and Jeremy Piven among others and recovers his hallmark and the initial style of his films.

In 2009 he was in charge of giving life to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle ‘s most famous detective ,  Sherlock Holmes , played by Robert Downey Jr.  and with  Jude Law as Dr. Watson. The great commercial success of the film led to its sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows , two years later . That same year, 2011, he had his third child, his second biological one with model Jacqui Ainsley.
