Biography
Guy Fieri was born on January 22, 1968, in Columbus, Ohio. He is the son of Penelope Anne and Lewis James Ferry. He grew up in Ferndale in rural Humboldt County, California. During high school, he was a foreign exchange student in France, where he developed his interest in food and cooking.
Fieri attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management in 1990. Fieri began his association with food in grade school in Ferndale, by selling pretzels from his “Awesome Pretzel” cart and washing dishes to finance his trip to France to study.
On his return to the United States, he worked at the restaurant at the Red Lion Inn in Eureka, California, until he went to Las Vegas for college.
Career
After graduation from college, Guy Fieri worked as manager of Parker’s Lighthouse, a Stouffer’s restaurant in Long Beach, California. After three years in southern California, he became district manager of Louise’s Trattoria, managing six locations along with recruiting and training for the restaurants.
He opened his first restaurant, Johnny Garlic’s in California in 1996. A second location opened in Windsor in 1999, a third in Petaluma in 2000 or 2001, and a fourth in Roseville in late 2008. He also opened Tex Wasabi’s a barbecue and sushi spot in locations in California.
In 2011, Fieri partnered with Carnival Cruise lines to create Guy’s Burger Joint to sell Fieri’s burgers fleet-wide. He also set up several restaurants across different locations in the United States, including New York, Las Vegas, Baltimore, and Disney World.
Television Appearance
After winning the second season of The Next Food Network Star on April 23, 2006, Fieri was awarded a six-episode commitment for his own cooking show on Food Network. Guy’s Big Bite premiered in June 2006 and aired on the Network until 2016.
Guy’s second series, Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, premiered in April 2007 with Fieri traveling the country and visiting local eateries. The New York Times called the series “not a cooking show as much as a carefully engineered reality show”.
He also hosted and appeared on other Food Network programs such as Ultimate Recipe Showdown, co-hosted with Marc Summers, Guy Off the Hook, Dinner: Impossible, Paula’s Party, Ace of Cakes, and The Best Thing I Ever Ate.
Due to Guy’s engaging demeanor, he even hosted the non-cooking television game show Minute To Win It for two seasons. He alongside Rachael Ray hosted  Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off. Other series in his Filmography include Guy’s Grocery Games and Guy’s Family Road Trip.
In 2013 Fieri received a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class Special for the Food Network special Guy Fieri’s Family Reunion

He is also one of the most expensive chefs in the world, charging as much as $100,000 for private bookings. In 2018 Guy signed a 3-year, $30 million contract with The Food network. That contract worked out to an annual salary of $10 million.
In May 2021 Guy Fieri signed a 3-year $80 million contract renewal with The Food Network. That works out to just under $27 million per year and made him not only the highest-paid television chef in the world but one of the highest-paid television personalities in the world.
Fieri has also appeared in promotions for numerous brands and products, In early 2000, he was the brand ambassador for Flowmaster, a California-based auto exhaust parts manufacturer. He was also the spokesperson for T.G.I. Friday’s. In 2010, he appeared in a commercial for Aflac named “Spicy”.
Fieri also owns a vineyard and sells his wine under the label Hunt & Ryde, named after his sons Hunter and Ryder
