Gunmen strikes in Abuja, abduct corps member, 7 others

Suspected Gunmen struck at the Arab Road Extension 2 in Kubwa district of the FCT late Tuesday, and abducted a serving Youth Corps member, one Adenike, and seven others while killing one resident.

Sources said that Miss Adenike who is the only daughter of her parents was abducted when the bandit’s stormed some buildings along the Arab road, shooting sporadically and whisking away any resident they could lay their hands on.

Two persons were said to have been hit by the gunshots resulting in one allegedly dying on the spot while the other was rushed to the hospital after the bandits made away with the abducted victims.

“Seven others were kidnapped alongside Adenike. But two others, among the ten earlier, kidnapped, escaped, and are safe now.” Sources said

“Apart from the Youth Corper, we are looking for seven other residents. Nobody can sleep anymore. It was like a war zone the way they were shooting. Luckily two of those kidnapped escaped. That is how we knew seven persons were taken away”, a resident said.

“From Amilomania Street, they moved to Toyin Street, all in Extension 2 Relocation, along Arab Road, in Kubwa,” the source said adding that “one of the victims shot dead is a popular tailor in the area,

The source said the bandits may have resorted to using the hilly area to gain entrance into the street to avoid the Vigilante who are stationed in the popular entrance of the street, to avoid a fight back.

Efforts to get the FCT Police Command PRO, DSP Josephine Adeh to comment on the development last night proved abortive.

Gunmen storms market in Sokoto kill police officers, 3 others

Gunmen suspected to be Bandits yesterday afternoon storm Yarbulutu Village Market in Sabon Birni local Government killing 3 Police officers and their Vehicles as well as 3 other traders.

The attack happened around 2:30pm when President Muhammadu Buhari and Minister of defence Salihi Magashi were in Sokoto attending 2022 COAS Annual conference.

According to eye witness, Gunmen who came on bikes open fire on innocent traders in the weekly market making people to flee scampering for their lives.

The Police officers on a nearby checkpoint rushed to scene and engaged the dreaded gun which resulted in the killing of three Police officers and setting ablaze their two operational vehicles.

Confirming the attack, the police public relations officer, Sokoto state police Command DSP  Sanusi Abubakar said, the command has received the report and they are hunting down the attackers to face justice.

A resident of the Village who saw the happening on the Market day Shayau Garba, expressed concern with the way Gunmen are terrorizing the area on daily bases without much resistance.

He said Sabon Birni and Isa local government areas in the eastern part of Sokoto are for long held to ransom by Bandits and Kidnappers operating in Zamfara and part of Sokoto state.

” I am certain this Gunmen were those diapers from Zamfara state and now relocated to our areas as the area share boarder with the state in the east” says the eyewitness.
