Gore verbinski

Gore Verbinski (Tennessee, United States, 1964) comes from a large family, in which he is the third of five children. His father, of Polish descent, worked as a nuclear physicist at the Oak Ridge laboratory, the city where Gore was born. He was a guitarist for several punk groups, such as “The Daredevils” and “The Little Kings”. From adolescence he showed his love for cinema by selling his guitar in order to buy his first camera, a Super 8 with which he shot shorts. He graduated from UCLA University in 1987, where he majored in Film and Television. His first important steps were in video clips and spots, like the one for Budweiser beer, with which he won the Silver Lion at Cannes.

His leap to the big screen came in 1997 with the comedy A Hard Little Mouse to Crack , a hilarious homage to old classics like Tom and Jerry or Coyote and the Road Runner . Four years later he would premiere The Mexican , an action-packed comedy starring a trio of stars: Brad Pitt , Julia Roberts and James Gandolfini . The film was well received, although Verbinski did not quite take off. It was only a year later with the remake of the terrifying The Ring , when he began to build his reputation.

In 2003 he presented his best work to date, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl , for which he earned recognition from the Hollywood Academy with five Oscar nominations, although it ultimately came up empty. The success of the feature film led him to sign for two more sequels to the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), although they did not achieve the good reception of the first. Before the premiere of these, he moved away from the adventure genre shooting a drama with Nicolas Cage: The Weatherman (2005).

In 2011 he decided to try animation with the movie Rango . This is a comedy about reptiles in the west, in which she even lent her voice to one of the characters. He invented an innovative universe with a very original design that gave him the Oscar for Best Animated Film. Two years later, he released The Lone Ranger , another adventure that once again featured Johnny Depp in a very appropriate role for him, that of the extravagant Comanche Tonto. Although its premiere generated a lot of expectations, the results were not very good, becoming one of the failures of that summer.

Gore is married to Clayton Verbinski, with whom he has two sons, Anton and Ivan.
