Ghana Should Forfeit The World Cup Qualifiers Against Nigeria - Patrick Boamah

Patrick Boamah, a member of the Ghanaian parliament,  has advised the Black Stars of Ghana to forfeit their 2022 World Cup qualifying playoff against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Mr. Boamah made the statement while commenting on Ghana’s poor performance at the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, where the team crashed out from the group stages without winning a single game.

According to the lawmaker, he doesn’t want the country to waste their time playing Nigeria because the Super Eagles are miles ahead of the Black Stars.

“If need be, we should dissolve our national team and prepare a team over the next five years,” Boamah said on the floor of parliament, according to Citi Sports.

“We should not waste our time playing Nigeria in the next World Cup qualifier.

Recall that the  Nigeria Super Eagles was  drawn to play Ghana in the playoffs that will determine who represents Africa in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

More so, Nigeria’s Super Eagles will have to get the better of the Black Stars of Ghana if they hope to qualify for a fourth straight FIFA World Cup. The match, is to take place between March 24 and 29, with the first leg taking place in Ghana while the return leg will come up in Nigeria.

The Super Eagles, who have been to every FIFA World Cup except one since making their debut appearance at the 1994 tournament in the United States, qualified for the third round play-offs by virtue of their top-place finish in a second-round group that had Cape Verde, Liberia, and the Central African Republic.

The Black Stars, on the other hand, advanced to the third round play-offs after finishing ahead of South Africa, Ethiopia, and Zimbabwe in Group G.
