Geno Smith is an American Football Quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL) in 2019. Additionally, he started his football game playing from his high school days in West Virginia , then led the Mountaineers to several Bowl games. Also, he won numerous awards before being drafted by the New York Jets in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
Additionally, he lost his starting position after two erratic seasons with the Jets due to injuries in his final two years. GENO SMITH: BIOGRAPHY, FAMILY, EDUCATION
The football quarterback was born on October 10, 1990, in Lakemont, Georgia, United States. He was born as the son of parents, Eugene Smith Jr. and Tracy Seller. He is the great-niece of record-breaking All-American hurdler Danny Smith and cousin of Miami racing star Melvin Bratton. Smith did not reveal information about his sibling numbers, but he is Geonte’s older brother.
Initially, he admitted to the magnet program of Norland Middle School. But he would go to Miramar High School to be coached by former mountaineer Damon Cogdell. During that span, he passed for 2,200 yards, 25 touchdowns, and three interceptions and was named second team United States QB during his junior years. Then, in 2007, he was named All-Broward County second team as an athlete.
In his senior season, he finished with 205 of 338 passes for 3,089 yards and 30 touchdowns for the 6A State Semifinals. Then he again won the Florida Class 6A All-State first-team title and a Parade All-American. After that, he chose to go to West Virginia to different colleges like Florida State, South Florida, Boston College, and Alabama.

He joined the West Virginia Mountaineers football team after joining West Virginia University from 2009 to 2012. He pursued the English major there. During his freshman year, he became the replacement for senior Jarrett Brown. That year, he completed 5 of 8 passes for 50 yards and an interception and again saw action against Syracuse, Marshall and Louisville. During his rookie year, he won several awards, including 2010 All-Big East Conference Second Team and 2011 All-Big East Conference First Team
He started his professional career in 2013 after being drafted by the New York Jets with 39th overall in the NFL. He then fired his agency “Select Sports Group” and signed with ROC Nation Sports in the same year. In 2017, he signed with the New York Giants and in his first week 9 against the Los Angeles Rams, he entered the game as a relief from Eli Manning. In April 2018, he signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers.
With the team, he appeared in five games completing a pass for eight yards as the Chargers won 38–14 over the Cleveland Browns in his first appearance. After 2019, on May 15, he signed Seattle Seahawks and competed with Paxton Lynch for the backup job behind Russell Wilson. The next day, he signed up again and got the backup job.
