Gaspard Uliel
He stood out in “Saint Laurent” and “Hannibal, the origin of evil”. Gaspard Ulliel died on January 19, 2022, at the age of 37, one day after suffering a skiing accident that kept him hospitalized in serious condition, as confirmed by the interpreter’s agent to the French press. He had collided with another person at the Rosière station, in Los Alpes.
Born in Boulogne-Billancourt, on November 25, 1984, in Boulogne-Billauncourt, a suburb of Paris, Gaspard Ulliel was attacked by a Doberman at the age of six, whom he tried to ride as if it were a horse. Hollywood called on Gaspard Ulliel to give life to Hannibal Lecter himself, in Hannibal: The Origin of Evil , a prequel to The Silence of the Lambs . “I realized early on that the job was not to imitate Anthony Hopkins , even though it was fine to take some small details of his performance and incorporate them into this character,” he recalled in an interview. “I had to try to find the character in me and make it different. We were dealing with a different person. He’s much younger, he hasn’t experienced the same things, at this stage he hasn’t hardened yet from the time he’s spent in prison”.
Gaspard Ulliel was delighted with the fame he enjoyed, especially in France. “Sometimes you fantasize about what a normal life should be like. We actors complain a lot, but if they took away our notoriety from one day to the next, we would surely feel miserable.” He received the best reviews of his career with Saint Laurent , where he gave life to the prestigious designer. “I am very proud of this film,” he acknowledged. “Thanks to it I understood many things about acting, but also about who I am. It’s the first time I’ve tried to push my limits and transform into something new.”
In the last years of his career, Gaspard Ulliel appeared in titles such as Only the End of the World or A Town and its King . Upon his death, he left Moon Knight , the series about the superhero Marvel, pending premiere, where he gave life to Anton Mogart, a cunning thief.
