Personal trainer

Jose Luis San Martin is the personal trainer for Real Madrid. Gareth’s training schedule and program were set by him to help him get fit again. Bale needs to be physically fit as he missed pre-season at Spurs with an injury in late 2013.

First, Bale will build his base by going through an endurance workout. Bale does interval drills – 15 second sprint, 15 second rest between sets. Eventually he increases the sprint to 30 seconds and so on. He needs to make sure he trains at 150-170 bpm.

Gareth will train for three hours in a day, immersing himself in the gym in the mornings and afternoons.

So this training can really bring him to a competitive level, but he needs to play games to get the best level.
