Freddie Highmore (Alfred Thomas “Freddie” Highmore) is an English actor best known for playing Dr. Shaun Murphy in the ABC drama series The Good Doctor and was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. also known for starring as Norman Bates in the drama-thriller series Bates Motel.
Highmore made her debut in the comedy film Women Talking Dirty (1999). He is known for his leading roles in the films Finding Neverland (2004), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), August Rush (2008) and The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008). Highmore began his acting career with small television roles when he was 7 years old. Freddie made his first film appearance in Coky Giedroyc’s comedy Women Talking Dirty (1999). In Women Talking Dirty, he played the son of a woman (Helena Bonham Carter). Helena recently separated from her French lover who fears commitment.
In 2001, he played a young King Arthur in the TNT miniseries The Mists of Avalon, a take on Arthurian legends that portrayed the women of Camelot as the true power behind the throne.
The same year (2001), in the BBC mini-series Happy Birthday Shakespeare, he portrayed a young boy who dreams of moving his family to Stratford-upon-Avon. Highmore starred alongside her family members in two separate films. In Women Talking Dirty her brother Bertie Highmore played her brother and in Jack and the Beanstalh: The Real Story her father Edward Highmore played her father. Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story is a Hallmark Entertainment TV movie released in 2001.

In 2004, he returned to the big screen for the family adventure film Two Brothers, directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud. In Two Brothers, Highmore plays the son of a French administrator who refuses to believe that his new friend, a tiger cub, could be dangerous after tasting blood. He then had a major role opposite Kenneth Branagh, Zoë Wanamaker and Eddie Izzard in the fantasy film Five Children and It (2004).
The same year, Highmore made his breakthrough with a critically acclaimed performance as the troubled Peter Llewelyn Davies in Marc Forster’s semi-biographical film Finding Neverland.

In 2005, he played the lead role of Charlie Bucket in Tim Burton’s musical fantasy film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, adapted from Roald Dahl’s book of the same name.
Highmore was apparently recommended by co-star Johnny Depp, who he had worked with on Finding Neverland. Johnny Depp said he was impressed with the young actor’s performance and therefore offered his name for the role.
Highmore had not seen the original 1971 version of the film and decided not to see it until he had completed filming so that his portrayal of Charlie would not be influenced by the film.
For his role in Finding Neverland, Freddie again won the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Young Performer and received the Satellite Award for Outstanding New Talent. A video game of the same name accompanying the film was released and Highmore provided the voice.

Next he appeared as a young Max Skinner in Ridley Scott’s comedy-drama film A Good Year which was released in the UK on October 27, 2006. In 2006 Freddie also began portraying protagonist Arthur Montgomery in the animated live action/fantasy film. adventure film Arthur and the Invisibles released on December 13, 2006. Two further developments followed: Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard (2009) and Arthur 3: War of the Two Worlds (2010).
For the third film and accompanying video game in the trilogy, Highmore provided voice acting, and in 2007 he lent his voice to the fantasy adventure film The Golden Compass and its video game of the same name.

Highmore also starred as American twins Simon and Jared Grace, alongside Sarah Bolger as their sister Mallory, in the fantasy adventure film The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008), which is based on the popular stories children’s book of the same name by Tony DiTerlizzi.
The film, The Spiderwick Chronicles, also had a video game, in which Highmore reinterpreted the characters of Simon and Jared in a voice role. In 2013, Freddie was the main character in the animated adventure film Justin and the Knights of Valor. From 2013 to 2017, he played the iconic role of Norman Bates, alongside Vera Farmiga as his mother Norma, in the drama-thriller series A&E Bates Motel. Bates Motel, a drama-thriller series, is a prelude to the Alfred Hitchcock film Psycho which revives the scenario in the present day.

FREDDIE HIGHMORE BATES MOTEL
The story follows where Norma Bates buys a motel after her husband’s death in the quaint coastal town of White Pine Bay, giving herself and her teenage son Norman played by Freddie a chance to start a new life. Norman is shy and reluctant at first, but his mother, with whom he has a close relationship, helps him open up to others and make new friends.
Some locals, however, weren’t as friendly and welcoming to the Bates, who later discovered it was because White Pine Bay wasn’t as peaceful as it seemed, and they were forced to do whatever it takes to survive.
The drama series, Bates Motel was produced by Carlton Cuse (“Lost”) and Kerry Ehrin (“Friday Night Lights”) which was inspired by the important 1960 horror film “Psycho”, explores the formative years of Norman Bates and how his complicated bond with his mother faked a serial killer.
