Personal trainer

Joe Hart trains seven days a week to maintain the fitness and explosive strength that has made him one of the finest keepers of his generation. His usual daily workout routine is around three hours. He spends the first 30 minutes of the workout doing dynamic stretching and light warm-up exercises. He then spends 90 minutes on the field doing ball work and game-specific training. He finishes his training session with an hour at the gym.

As a goalie, you need explosive power and flexibility, not muscle. And Hart certainly focuses on that aspect, working mostly on the lower body, core and his balance in the gym. His leg workouts involve using TRX bands for added resistance. He’s also a big fan of Pilates and stability exercises. Check out Joe Hart’s typical workout here.

Usually, Joe starts his day with a bowl of porridge loaded with berries and fruits. His lunch includes meat and roasted vegetables, and some days it’s just a large salad. He keeps his dinner simple with white fish and vegetables.
