Famous people seem to be perfect in every way. Fans love their favorite actors and actresses and consider them their role models. It is worth remembering that all that glitters is not gold. Fans impersonate their favorite stars as flawless and it is sometimes quite shocking for the fans when they find out the problems of the superstars. Many famous people do unthinkable acts that are immediately caught by the paparazzi and fans get to read about it in the newspaper. But the mental disorder some of these celebrities are dealing with is something you may not be familiar with. Read on to find a list of famous people who have dealt with mental health issues and how they dealt with them.

Mel Gibson – Bipolar Disorder

A great actor and director like Mel is recognized for his various roles in some of Hollywood’s finest films. Movie lovers are familiar with his outstanding films and acting, but they may not be aware of his mental disorder. In a 2008 documentary, Gibson admitted he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. His health problem became public in 2010. Many newspapers showed tapes of Mel, threatened and insulted his ex-girlfriend Oksana. Doctors say Mel didn’t take his medicine, which caused him to spill his anger on another person. Taking appropriate medication helps a patient with bipolar disorder control their anger. In the absence of further reports of Mel’s anger,

Becoming a successful swimmer requires incredible focus. Achieving the toughest goals was no problem for Phelps, even when dealing with ADHD. It’s amazing how he changed during his childhood because he couldn’t even sit still in school. His teachers were upset and complained that Michael wasn’t concentrating on class. In fifth grade, doctors found out about ADHD and provided him with the necessary medication. After two years on the medication, Michael felt stigmatized. Doctors left him drug free and he became one of the most successful swimmers in sports history. A discovery has shown that many children with ADHD have achieved excellent results in competitive sports. So it doesn’t have to be that bad after all.

Elton John – Bulimia

What happens when you’re among the greatest singers? You want to look great and for that you need to eat healthy. Dealing with bulimia has been one of Elton’s problems in his past. He didn’t talk about it at the time, but he revealed the issue after getting over it. He admitted to suffering from the mental disorder on The Larry King Show in 2002. Elton John has also dealt with substance abuse in his life. Such a life can be very difficult, especially if the person does not want to talk to anyone about it. Even though he’s been sober for many years, Elton admits he should have talked about it and asked for help sooner.

Craig Ferguson – Alcoholism

Craig is one of the best TV hosts when it comes to late night shows. He has a unique ability to entertain audiences and guests. But just like the others on this list, he was also dealing with a mental health issue. Drinking too much made him an alcoholic and he wasn’t afraid to admit it. He even spoke about it on his show and everyone could note the emotional ups and downs he was experiencing during that time. He has been sober for more than 20 years and says the rehabilitation process is the best thing that could have happened to him. Killing himself and finding the right way to move on with his life was a prevention.

Kurt Cobain – ADHD, Bipolar Disorder

Mental health issues can drastically change lives. Some people cannot cope with these problems and it can even be fatal. Kurt is a legendary name that stands out from the other average musicians. But his struggle with ADHD and depression cannot be avoided. Many of you will say that he died of depression, but ADHD created additional problems in everything he dealt with. Suffering from bipolar disorder and ADHD caused Kurt’s depression, anger, mood swings, anger and other symptoms that are very difficult to manage. He is one of the greatest musicians, but also a person with numerous psychological problems.
