Sola Sobowale, who played Eniola Salami in the million-dollar film King of Boys, is regarded as one of Nigeria’s most powerful actresses. In 2019, Sola Sobowale received the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her role in the King of Boys (2018) movie.
Sola noted in a recent interview with Guardian Life that her parents are teachers, and they offered her education as a legacy, but she had to follow her desire to pursue acting.
In a 2017 interview with Punch, she revealed that her father wanted her to be a teacher, and her mother wanted her to be a nurse.
She rose to prominence after portraying “Toyin Tomato” in the renowned Nigerian television series “Super Story.”
However, Sola Sobowale left acting for 10 years stating that she had to leave to take care of her children saying family comes first.
She says “The moment you have children, then you must be ready to take full responsibility. Education is something that is of priority to me, and that is the legacy you can give to your children.”
Sola Sobowale is one who is known to be the tough mother or actress in a movie, she explained in an interview that she doesn’t accept any smooching or going naked roles.
“Yes ooh, they are so many. I am not going to go naked, definitely, and no smooching. Nobody is coming to smooch me, no smooching. I am a typical African woman; let’s stay like that, don’t let us take it to the foreign land…” she said while talking about roles she won’t be taking in a movie.
Education
Sola Sobowale attended the University of Ibadan, where she studied Music, but later switched to study Theater arts as a result of her love for acting.
Sola Sobowale (born December 26, 1965) is married to Oludotun Sobowale, and they are blessed with 5 children. She is a native of Ondo State, Nigeria.
