Felicity Huffmann
He had three decades of career in film, theater and television when overnight he became a very popular face around the world. Felicity Huffman owes her fame to Lynette Scavo, the more level-headed and competitive housewife on “Desperate Housewives.” For her part, the actress has a certain fixation with her physical beauty and calls herself the least attractive among her co-stars in the famous series, although this point would be debatable.
Born on December 9, 1962, New Yorker Felicity Kendall Huffman is the daughter of Grace Valle, a theater actress and banker Moore Peters Huffman. They both divorced when she was one year old, so she was raised primarily by her mother, as were her seven siblings. During her adolescence she suffered from anorexia and also bulimia, but luckily she was able to overcome both problems. “Back then I hated my body. I thought I would never be pretty enough to be an actress. Over the years I feel much better,” she has come to declare.
He studied Dramatic Art at New York University. He also took additional classes at the Atlantic Theater Company’s acting school, where he fell in love with one of his teachers, William H. Macy , who at that time was beginning to succeed on the stage, and had barely made movies. They began a relationship that would last 15 years before getting married. “He is my pillar. We share the same desires, the same passions. He is my husband, my friend and confidant at the same time,” says the actress. “He is a very good man who is not interested in external beauty, but rather the inner beauty of people.”
Huffman made her Broadway debut in 1988, the same year she was first seen on screen in David Mamet ‘s second feature , Things Change , where she had a very minor role, as did Macy, who was also part of the distribution. In The Von Bulow Mystery she was one of the students assembled by the lawyer played by Ron Silver to achieve the acquittal of the character of Jeremy Irons .
Felicity Huffman has shot a lot of television, as she has gone through the series Golden Years , The X Files , Law and Order or The West Wing of the White House . She drew attention especially with her incorporation into the tenth season of Frasier , where she was a financial analyst for a radio station with whom the protagonist had a love-hate relationship.
In cinema, Mamet remembered her again for La plot (1997) , where she was an FBI agent. The same year of filming, her wedding to Macy (who has just established herself after starring in Fargo ) took place. Subsequently, Felicity Huffman has given birth to two daughters, Sophie (2000) and Georgia (2002). She worked with her husband on Magnolia , even though he carried much more weight.
Huffman did not become popular until she was cast as one of the four leads in Desperate Housewives , where she played Lynette Scavo, a woman who sacrificed her career as a successful advertising executive to take care of her mischievous children, a decision that is sometimes he regrets. But despite some moments of lack of control, over time her character turned out to be the most sensible of the group of friends from Wisteria Lane.
Shortly after making it big with the series, Felicity Huffman won a Golden Globe and received an Oscar nomination for playing a man about to have a sex change in Transamerica , which centered on her character’s relationship with a teenage son whose existence ignored. The actress was also a stay-at-home mom who took her troubled daughter ( Lindsay Lohan ) to spend a stint with her grandmother ( Jane Fonda ) on the low-key Georgia Says So.
She is by no means considered a ‘freak’ for being a famous actress who leads a more serious and orderly life than usual among her professional colleagues. “My life is different. For example, Eva Longoria , my co-star, is always on set with fantastic stories. She always says things like ‘I just had dinner with Tom Ford .’ daughters in bed at 7:45 p.m. and then I read a book before going to sleep”.
