Falana’s Silence Fuels Outrage as Verydarkman Remains in Detention

The storm surrounding the arrest of social media critic Verydarkman (VDM) has taken a new twist, as his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has publicly questioned the silence of prominent human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN.
VDM was picked up recently in Abuja by security operatives, with speculations swirling that gospel artist Mercy Chinwo may have played a role in the arrest. The incident has sparked widespread debate, especially among supporters of the controversial influencer.
In a strongly worded Facebook post, Adeyanju wondered why Falana, known for championing civil liberties, has yet to speak out against the arrest.

“Our revered leader and mentor, Femi Falana SAN, is yet to condemn the arrest of VDM. Interesting times indeed,” Adeyanju wrote. “When the boy that led people to attack me under Buhari became a victim under the same Buhari and was arrested, I was the first person to condemn it.”
The silence from Falana is drawing scrutiny, especially given the lawyer’s track record of vocal activism under previous administrations.
This isn’t the first time Falana and Verydarkman have crossed paths. During Bobrisky’s run-in with the EFCC over currency mutilation, VDM released an audio clip allegedly implicating Falana, his rapper son Falz, and the anti-graft agency. Falana responded by threatening legal action, demanding a retraction and an apology for what he described as defamatory claims.
