Fake Pastor Jailed for 15 Years After Raping Woman During ‘Spiritual Steaming’ Ritual
A 42-year-old self-proclaimed pastor has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after he was found guilty of raping a 25-year-old woman under the guise of a spiritual cleansing ritual.
The disturbing incident occurred in 2022 at Masodi village, and judgment was passed by the Mahwelereng Regional Court. According to Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the pastor exploited the victim’s vulnerability after she brought her sick mother for prayer.
Ledwaba explained that the pastor deceived the young woman into believing she was plagued by a spiritual affliction that required “deliverance.” He then instructed her to undress for a spiritual steaming session, during which he sexually assaulted her.
After the horrific ordeal, the woman filed a rape complaint with the police. The case was handled by the Mokopane Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit, with Sergeant Lesetja Langa leading the investigation that eventually brought the predator to justice.
The court found the pastor guilty, and he will now serve 15 years behind bars for using faith as a weapon to abuse and violate.
