Evangeline Lilly
Because you can be pretty and nice. Because you can be attractive and have an overflowing sense of humor. Because you can be a famous character and be fresh and simple. Because you can have everything.
Not since Pipi Longstocking has there been such a famous freckle in the history of television. Evangeline has intelligence, restlessness, spontaneity and mischief in common with her Swedish ancestor. She transmits the freshness of a girl who has not wanted to grow up, she said without any pejorative consideration. Unlike Pipi, however, Evangeline has to add a beauty that has made her one of the most desirable women on the television scene. Even so, Evangeline does not seem to pay much attention to her stupendous physical appearance as reflected in many of her public appearances where her beauty competes on an equal footing with her ease and sense of humor. This simplicity and closeness of her place her far from the excess and artifice of Hollywood celebrities, a world in which she feels zero interest. “Many people believe that the good thing about this job is fame and wealth. I think you pay for wealth through fame. I’m not one of those who believes that being famous is a good thing, or exciting, or wonderful. I think it’s something heavier, that it gets in the way of your life,” says Evangeline.
And it is that as she says, she became an actress by “accident”. She was born on August 3, 1979 in Fort Saskatchewan (Canada). Neither her two sisters nor her parents had any connection with the interpretation. Evangeline, besides not having any connection with the guild, had no interest in the subject either. But one day, in the middle of the street, a worker from the Ford modeling agency noticed her and offered her a contract. Evangeline was not particularly excited about it, but she decided that it would be a good idea to pay for her studies in International Relations at the University of British Columbia. Her student years were marked by her work as a model, some appearance in television commercials and various occasional jobs as a waitress, which allowed her to increase her income during her university years. To this busy life we must add that during his years on campus he launched a solidarity commission in defense of human rights. And it is that Evangeline has been a volunteer since she was 14 years old in projects related to children. An experience to which she added her stay with some missionaries in the Philippine jungle.
With so much trotting it seems incredible that Evangeline had time for something else, but the fact is that she did. She added to the advertisements her appearance as an extra in television series such as Smallville . From there she moved on to movies, where she also kept her mouth shut in the teeny tiny role of hers in Freddy vs. Jason .. Something that did not matter to Evangeline, who at that time continued to see her work at Ford as a method of financing her studies. At that time, she had Murray Hone as a boyfriend, a schoolmate who became a hockey player. . The couple married in 2003 and were together until 2005, when they divorced. Apparently their marriage was not going very well when in 2004 Evangeline’s life changed radically. She was offered a paper with text for the first time. And she opened her mouth. Boy did she open it. She agreed to play Kate Austen in Lost , the television series that has become a mass phenomenon internationally. It was then that Kate considered being an actress and she decided that the answer had to be yes. Her work in the JJ Abrams seriesIt has given her that fame that matters so little to her and that is that despite the fact that Lost is an ensemble series, she has made Kate one of the central axes of this complex project that brings half the world upside down. Contrary to what has happened with some of her co-stars, Evangeline hasn’t gone crazy trying to get film work. Since she has been on the series she has participated as a secondary in The Weekend , The Hurt Locker and Afterwards . In the latter she had a somewhat larger role and shared the bill with John Malkovich . At the moment, Kate’s future plans are focused on the series, which begins recording its sixth and final season.
In addition to the change at a professional level that Lost brought about , the likeable Evangeline also owes him for having found love again. The actress met Dominic Monaghan in the series –Charlie in fiction– with whom she has a romantic relationship. It is expected that after she decided to take the step of dedicating herself to acting, she Evangeline she will continue working. It would be a shame to stop enjoying this funny freckled girl.
