EVAN OSNOS IPAD

In April 2019, Osno’s son Ollie got his hands on his mother’s iPad and kept trying the password, trying one idea after another. It’s unclear how many codes Ollie tried, but, when he gave up, the screen said, “iPad is disabled, try again in 25,536,442 minutes. That’s about forty-eight years. Osnos took a photo that later went viral on social media. Osnos later reported that they unlocked it.

In the summer of 1999, Osnos started at the Chicago Tribune as a subway reporter and later a domestic and foreign correspondent. It was located in New York at the time of the September 11 attacks. In 2002 he was appointed to the Middle East. there he reported on the war in Iraq and covered Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran and elsewhere.

 

In 2005, he became a correspondent in China. He was also invited in the Colbert report in 2007 and 2011 to discuss the changes in China. Osnos was part of the Chicago Tribune team that won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting.

Osnos started at The New Yorker in September 2008 and served as the magazine’s China correspondent until 2013. He has previously contributed to the NPR radio show This American Life and the PBS television show Frontline.

During his time as The New Yorker’s China correspondent, Evan ran a regular blog titled “Letter from China” and published articles on young Chinese neoconservatives, the Fukushima nuclear meltdown, and the Wenzhou train crash.
