She gave life to the mother of George Costanza, an inseparable friend of the protagonist, in “Seinfeld”, and lent her voice to Mrs. Potato in “Toy Story” and its sequels. Estelle Harris passed away on April 2, 2022, at the age of 93, in Palm Desert, California.

Born on April 22, 1928 in New York, Estelle Harris was the daughter of a candy store owner. She began harnessing her comedic talents in high school productions where she realized that she “could get the audience into hysterics”, she said in an interview. After several roles in the theater, she stopped acting in the early 50’s to dedicate herself to her family.

Once her three children grew up, Estelle Harris jumped into the movies with titles like Once Upon a Time in America , where she gave life to the mother of a very liberal teenager, and appeared in several chapters of Duty Court . She debuted on Seinfeld in 1992, and she started to get very similar. “She was a mother who screamed a lot, but full of love. People told me that she reminded them of their own mothers, and that she was an endearing character,” she commented in an interview. With her overbearing attitude  of hers and always upset by the disasters caused by her son, she became the epitome of maternal outrage.

At the end of the fiction, Estelle Harris did not lack work as a star guest in series like ER . In addition to voicing the character in the saga that began with Toy Story , she also acted as a dubbing actress in other animated productions from the Disney factory.
