1. Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor in New York City, in the United States. The copper statue is a gift from the people of France, and was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and its metal framework was built by Gustave Eiffel. The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886.
The statue is a figure of Libertas, the Roman Goddess of Liberty. She holds a torch above her head with her right hand, and in her left hand carries a tabula ansata inscribed JULY IV MDCCLXXVI (July 4, 1776, in Roman numerals), the date of the U.S. Declaration of Independence.
A broken chain and shackle lie at her feet as she walks forward, commemorating the national abolition of slavery following the American Civil War. After its dedication, the statue became an icon of freedom and the United States, seen as a symbol of welcome to immigrants arriving by sea.
2. Spring Temple Buddha
The Spring Temple Buddha is a colossal statue depicting Vairocana Buddha discovered in the Zhaocun township of Lushan County, Henan, China, built between 1997 and 2008. It is located within the Fodushan Scenic Area, close to National Freeway 311. At 420 feet, excluding an 82 feet lotus throne, it is the second-tallest statue in the world after the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, India.
3. Myth Colossus of Rhodes
The Colossus of Rhodes was a statue of the Greek sun-god Helios, erected in the city of Rhodes, on the Greek island of the same name, by Chares of Lindos in 280 BC. One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, it was constructed to celebrate the successful defense of Rhodes City against an attack by Demetrius Poliorcetes, who had besieged it for a year with a large army and navy.
According to most contemporary descriptions, the Colossus stood approximately 70 cubits, or 108 feet high approximately the height of the modern Statue of Liberty from feet to crown making it the tallest statue in the ancient world. It collapsed during the earthquake of 226 BC, although parts of it were preserved.
4. Leshan Giant Buddha
The Leshan Giant Buddha is a 233 feet tall stone statue, built during the Tang dynasty. It is carved out of a cliff face of Cretaceous red bed sandstones that lies at the confluence of the Min River and Dadu River in the southern part of Sichuan Province in China, near the city of Leshan.
The stone sculpture faces Mount Emei, with the rivers flowing below its feet. It is the largest and tallest stone Buddha statue in the world and it is by far the tallest pre-modern statue in the world. It is over 4 km from the Wuyou Temple.
5. Great Sphinx of Giza
This is one of the most famous statues in the world. The Great Sphinx of Giza is a limestone statue of a reclining sphinx, a mythical creature with the head of a human and the body of a lion. Facing directly from west to east, it stands on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza, Egypt.

The Motherland Calls is the compositional center of the monument-ensemble “Heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad” on Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd, Russia. The statue is designed in the Soviet style of socialist realism. It was created by sculptor Yevgeny Vuchetich and structural engineer Nikolai Nikitin and was declared the tallest statue in the world in 1967.
At 279 feet, it is the tallest statue in Europe, the tallest in the eastern hemisphere outside of Asia, and the tallest statue of a woman in the world. If pedestals are included, that title belongs to the Statue of Liberty in New York.

The Great Buddha of Thailand is a giant statue of Buddha located in the Wat Muang temple in Ang Thong Province, Thailand. The massive statue also known as Big Buddha of Thailand, Phra Buddha Maha Nawamin, and Mahaminh Sakayamunee Visejchaicharn, was the tallest statue in Thailand, the second tallest statue in Southeast Asia, and the ninth-tallest in the world.
8. Ushiku Daibutsu
Ushiku Daibutsu is a statue located in Ushiku, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. Completed in 1993, it stands a total of 120 meters tall, including the 10 m base and 10m lotus platform. The statue held the record for the tallest statue from 1993 to 2008.

David’s statue is one of the most famous statues in the world because this masterpiece has been carved out of a single piece of Carrara marble. With a height of 5.17 meters, the David was the first colossal marble statue created in the early modern period following classical antiquity, a precedent for the 16th century and beyond.

The Buddhas of Bamiyan were three monumental statues, in high relief, representing three standing Buddhas. The Buddhas of Bamiyan were two 6th-century monumental statues carved into the side of a cliff in the Bamyan valley of central Afghanistan, 130 kilometers northwest of Kabul at an elevation of 8,200 feet.
The statues represented a later evolution of the classic Buddhist-Gupta blended style of ancient art in Afghanistan.
