It is no longer news that The federal government of Nigeria has lifted the ban placed on Twitter operations across the country after 222 days of the ban and economic losses of about N546.5 billion.

According to the Federal Government, the international Corporation Twitter Inc has agreed to their conditions and both parties have met on certain resolutions such as establishing a legal entity in Nigeria during the first quarter of 2022, appointing a designated country representative to interface with Nigerian authorities, complying with applicable tax obligations on its operations under Nigerian law amongst others.

The lift of the ban took effect today January 13 2022 and It seems Nigerian citizens have not forgiven the government over the brutalization of the protesters during the EndSars protest in 2020.

Recall that the Federal Government suspended the operation of Twitter on the 5th of June 2021 through an announcement made by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed.

It is generally believed that the government suspended Twitter because the platform deleted a post of  President Muhammadu Buhari where he condemned the terrorist attack going in the south-east, making an analogy of treating the people like he did during the civil war

Many people believed the tweet was insensitive and genocidal, therefore urging the Microblogging platform to take down the tweet.

However political experts have revealed that the President suspended the platform for supporting insurrection in Nigeria during the #EndSARS protests in October 2020 which ended in the destruction of lives and properties all over the country.

They further stated that in order to avoid another similar protest the Federal government decided to ban the microblogging platform and other entities associated with the protest, such as bank accounts that were used for donations during the protest, Cryptocurrency, etc.

However few hours after lifting the ban on Twitter, Nigerians have shown that the ban will not deter them from protesting against Police brutality that is widespread across the state.

Influential and non Influential figures has taken to the hashtag to show that have not forgotten brutality that was carried by the federal government upon it own citizens
