Ekiti State Assembly endorses Fayemi for 2023 Presidential Election

The Governor of the Ekiti State and the Chairman of Nigeria’s Governor forum, Kayode Fayemi, has been endorsed for the 2023 presidential election.

The Ekiti State Governor was endorsed by the state house of assembly when members of the political group ‘Our Project’ visited the assembly on Wednesday.

However, Rt Hon. Funminiyi Afuye, the speaker of the house, speaking on behalf of Ekiti lawmakers, said Fayemi was endorsed for the presidency because of his excellent performance in the State.

Afuye noted that the lawmakers were witnesses to Fayemi’s delivery of democracy dividends which he said has led to the radical transformation of the state.

Moreover, the speaker pledge to mobilise the actualization for Fayemi presidency.

“We know that if Governor Fayemi is given a higher responsibility, he will surely not disappoint.

“The candidature of Dr Kayode Fayemi in the forthcoming presidential election should make any Ekiti man proud, because he has been administering Ekiti State the way late Chief Obafemi Awolowo governed the old western region, however, with a modern touch.

“You don’t need to preach to us, we are with you on this and we promise to give you our full support,” he said.

Furthermore, Adewunmi Abejide, the group’s coordinator said the group was at the assembly to get its nod to ut pressure on Fayemi to contest for the presidential election.

He said the group has consulted the Yoruba rulers and notable leader across the country, and it was obvious that Fayemi is the best man for the job.

Ekiti State Governor, who is yet to formally declare his interest in the 2023 presidential election, happens to be the second Governor that will be endorsed by his state assembly.

Recall that, Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello has earlier been endorsed by his State assembly.
