Ehud Arye Laniado was a Belgian-Israeli billionaire diamond dealer. He was popular as one of the top diamond valuation experts in the world. Likewise, people also knew him for his vulnerability and a case of tax evasion. However, Laniado is no longer in this world. He died in Paris on March 7, 2019, a week before he was to be tried for tax evasion in Belgium.

Laniado was born in 1954 in Tel Aviv, Israel. Ehud Arye Laniado worked as a masseur before making his fortune in Africa and cultivating a keen eye for gemstones. He founded Omega Diamonds in Antwerp, Belgium, where he became a citizen; he has become one of the world’s foremost experts in the valuation of rough diamonds. The businessman would become a billionaire, buying Monaco’s most luxurious penthouse for $39,400,000 and a home in Bel Air, California, where he enjoyed drinking with celebrities at Chateau Margaux. In 2014, he sold the world’s most valuable diamond, Josephine’s Blue Moon, for $48.4 million to a Hong Kong businessman.
He always felt uncomfortable because of his short stature and appearance. Also, people called him the Argentine because he looked like a tango dancer. Additionally, he got into trouble in 2013 for illegally smuggling diamonds from Congo and Angola, and by paying a fine he avoided a tax evasion jury. He was later accused of lying to the Belgian authorities. Also, the court expected him to come on March 14, 2019, but he died at the age of 65.

Laniado first worked in Tel Aviv as a masseuse when he was young until he started discovering diamonds and other gems in Africa. Laniado had deepened his business as a consultant for four decades in the diamond industry. Additionally, the tagline under its Mercury Diamond website indicates that Mercury Diamond is a leading diamond pricing consultant.
People regard Laniado as a rare gemstone industry, with the blessing of being able to handle the diamond industry in a unique way. However, authorities have repeatedly charged him with tax offenses and theft in mainland Africa.

Laniado was undergoing his penis enlargement surgery by experts at a posh Parisian clinic, but he suffered a heart attack during the procedure. Sources say he died on the operating table. According to Belgian media, Laniado did not take well a substance that was injected into his penis. His vital signs failed following the injection of this drug and he was driven to death.
His company released a statement confirming his death. Upon news of his death, Laniado’s plastic surgeon, believed to be on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris, France, remains unknown.

The sum of Laniado’s fortune is not reported. Laniado would be just one of the world’s billionaires. Likewise, Laniado is rumored to have sold the world’s most valuable diamond Josephine’s Blue Moon. Hong Kong businessman and convicted felon Joseph Lau Luen Hung allegedly purchased the diamond from Laniado. For a whopping figure of around $48.4 million, Hung purchased the precious diamond.
