Edo 2024: Uhunmwode and Orhionmwon Enthusiastic as Obaseki Leads PDP Campaign

BENIN CITY – Two Local Government Areas, Uhunmwode and Orhionmwon in Edo South Senatorial District, were buzzing as Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, led a high-profile campaign for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the September 21 governorship election.
The campaign featured the PDP candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo; his running mate, Osarodion Ogie Esq; the party chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi; the Director General of the Asue Ogie Campaign Council, Hon. Matthew Iduoriyemkewen; and other top party loyalists.
Campaign Rally in Uhunmwode
At the campaign rally in Ehor, headquarters of Uhunmwode, Governor Obaseki thanked the people for their unwavering support and commitment, highlighting his administration’s achievements in the area, particularly in addressing security challenges.
He said, “We have tackled insecurity around this road and have done many other things. No one government can do everything, therefore, I have brought Asue and Ogie to continue with the good work we have begun.”
Obaseki urged the crowd to “support the two of them massively with your votes as you did for me for the past eight years. You will not regret it. Don’t allow those who do not mean well for you to deceive you. They have nothing to offer,” he stated.
Local Support for PDP
PDP chieftain and leader of the Edo South Senatorial District, Pa Etose Dickson Imasogie, expressed gratitude for the governor’s support and assured that Uhunmwode is committed to the PDP and the Asue-Ogie ticket.
He confidently stated that the PDP would win the election on September 21.
Hon. Kennedy Adodo, Local government council chairman, echoed this support, asserting, “We don’t know if APC exists in the local government. We are ready for the race ahead. We will definitely deliver here in Uhunmwode.”
Asue Ighodalo’s Vision
Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the PDP governorship candidate, appreciated the people for their support of Governor Godwin Obaseki and promised that he and his deputy would continue to deliver dividends of democracy.
He emphasized that their administration will focus on good governance, peace, and investment in Edo State, pledging to uphold Obaseki’s legacy.
“We will do everything possible to make Edo State a great state among the states in Nigeria and Africa,” he affirmed, urging voters to trust them and defend their votes at the polling unit and the state collation center.
In Abudu, Orhionmwon Local Government Area, a large crowd welcomed Governor Obaseki and his team. The enthusiasm at this segment of the PDP campaign in Edo South was a clear sign of strong local support. Obaseki thanked the enthusiastic supporters for their steadfast backing over the past eight years and assured them that Ighodalo and Ogie would exceed expectations and not disappoint the people.
