Dylan McDermott is an American actor, director and screenwriter. He is best known for his role as head of law firm Bobby Donnell in The Exercise television series from 1997 to 2004, for which he received a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama. He also had the role of FBI agent Max Canary on The Grid (2004) TV series and Duncan Collinsworth on the series Great Shots from 2007 to 2008. One of Dylan’s most notable roles was in the first two seasons of the TV series American Horror story titled American Horror Story: Murder House(2011), where he played the role of Dr. Ben Harmon starred, and American Horror Story: Asylum (2012-2013), where he starred as Johnny Morgan. Dylan returned in 2018 for another episode of the series titled Return to Murder House as Ben Harmon.

Besides starring in other TV series such as Dark Blue (2009-2010), Hostages (2013-2014), Stalker (2014-2015), LA to Vegas (2018) and The Politician (2019), he has had many recognized roles as a film actor. In 1990 he starred in the science fiction Hardware , then had starring roles in Where the Dogs Are Sleeping (1991) with Sharon Stone, In the Line of Fire (1993) with Clint Eastwood and Rene Russo and Three to the Tango (1999) opposite Matthew Perry . Dylan also starred in Texas Rangers (2001) with Ashton Kutcher, Rachael Leigh Cook and James Van Der Beek andWonderland (2003) with Kate Bosworth and Lisa Kudrow. In 2013, Dylan McDermott had a starring role from Forbes in Olympia Has Fallen alongside Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman and another prominent role from Don in The Clovehitch Killer (2018).

  1. His father was 17 years old while his mother was 15. Dylan was born. Richard, his father, used to hang out in the pool to earn enough money for his family, but they broke up when Dylan was very young.
  2. When he was 5 years old, his mother Diane was shot dead by her boyfriend John Sponza. Initially, a suicide or accidental shooting was ordered when John first claimed she shot herself in the head. He later claimed he was cleaning his gun and it fired, hitting Diane. After police reopened the case in 2012, forensics proved it would be impossible to accidentally shoot, but John was long dead – he was killed in 1972 due to his links to organized crime.
  3. Dylan and his sister Robin McDermott were taken in by their maternal grandmother, Avis Marino, but they maintained a close bond with their father. He worked in the bar his father owned. West Fourth Street Saloon In Greenwich Village, New York, drinks are served and fights that have occurred break up.
