DSS Responds to Arrest of NLC President Joe Ajaero

A source from the Department of State Services (DSS) has commented on the arrest of Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

In an interview with a correspondent, the source declined to provide details but requested an official inquiry be sent to the DSS’s email for further information.

The arrest occurred on Monday morning at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, where Ajaero was reportedly about to board a flight to the United Kingdom for an official assignment.

Reacting to the arrest, the DSS source stated:

“A DSS official who was contacted by our correspondent at 1:03 pm on Monday said he had no comment on the arrest of Ajaero but requested our correspondent to send an official request for comment to the email address of the secret police.”

It is worth noting that the DSS recently decided to reduce its media visibility to focus on its core mandate of covert operations aimed at enhancing national security.

Dr. Peter Afunanya, the former Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications, has been redeployed to continue his work elsewhere.
