Personal trainer

During his off-season, Drew Brees trains with his trainer Todd Durkin at the Todd’s Fitness Quest 10 gym. For these workouts, Durkin significantly reduces the rest time between exercises to ensure Brees’ body is fully equipped to handle the fast-paced game environment. These sessions usually last more than 2 hours and involve more than 100 movements. The focus is on core strength, joint mobility and general conditioning.

Before the exercise, Durkin has Drew perform a general warm-up and a dynamic warm-up. The general warm-up includes jogging, shuffling, and stepping back on the treadmill, followed by a jump rope. For dynamic training, he performs two sets of 12 exercises, including lunges, springbok, and high knees. After that, Drew is ready for a series of strenuous and intense exercises, which you can find here.

Drew suffers from a number of food allergies and actively tries to avoid gluten, nuts and dairy to prevent inflammation. To fuel his body for intense games, he relies on lean protein sources like grilled chicken and fish. He also likes vegetables and fruits, and uses soy products to fill in the gaps left by dairy products.
