In each episode, four blacksmiths fight in a three-round elimination contest to forge bladed weapons, with the overall winner receiving $10,000 and the championship title for the day. As a judge for the show, Marcaida represented the end users of the guns.
In addition to being a judge on the show, he is an expert in edged-weapon combat who designs some of the world’s most dangerous swords. He designed for FOX Knives which is located in Itlay. He also has a website where he advertises his work.
Marcaida is one of the creators of the DART (Direct Action Response Theory) Karambit, a small curved knife that fits in the hand, and the DART XT. Some of his tools are used in movies like 300, Blade and Bourne series.
