Despite the numerous accusations against Ramirez, Dorren believed he was innocent and would often write him a letter in jail and also work to try and save his neck while the convicted ‘killer’ was in jail. Reportedly, in a period of 11 years, including the years of her marriage, Doreen Lioy wrote a total of 75 love letters.

She further said that Lioy visited her husband four or more times a week and was one of the first people in line to visit. She didn’t care what anyone said about her decision. If anyone commented on her marriage, she’d roll her eyes and say, ‘ hometown girl does wrong. ‘

However, in late 2010, it was reported that the couple broke up after Richard was shown to have a direct link to the murder and rape of a nine-year-old girl. After that, there were no visits to the killer.
