International Nigerian Singer, Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems, in an address to people trying to dictate how she should define her artistry, that she is not their Christain Saviour and can never be fitted into a stereotype of how they want to be. The 27-year-old stated this in a series of tweets against the concerned party.
The singer in a series of tweets noted that she is not here to uphold her beliefs about God and will not fit into the box they are trying to put here. Recall that the singer had generated mixed reactions following videos of her performance at the powerhouse music festival emerged online, last month.
In the Videos, the singer was performing in a sultry manner, unlike her previous performance where she performs conservatively. This led many to castigate the singer suggesting that she is trying to act like a “bad girl” which does not suit her personality and her music. Responding to the backlash, the singer posted a picture of her outfit at the concert with the caption “I will drink your tears”

Tems giving full responses to the concerned fans and trolls alike began her series of tweets thanking God for numerous successes over the past few years. She wrote: “Thank God I’m free. Thank God for Great counsel.
Thank God for good health and growth. Not many can take out time even if they wanted to. They’re doing it cuz they have to We Thank God. The foundation has been set.”
She continued giving a stern warning to the concerned party noting that she will fit into their stereotype of a righteous and conservative artist and performer. She said: I don’t know who needs to hear this but I am not your Christian savior. I didn’t come here to uphold your beliefs about God. I will not fit into this box you try to put me in. I won’t satisfy you in that area please find the person that will. Or ask yourself why you care.
Continuing her rant, she said: “So much growth this year. I’m here for my fans. I have worked so much on myself. It will all make sense when it happens. I started in 2018. Look at what music looks like today. Still Next level coming. I’m just about to start”
“I don’t brag because I’m not playing the same game. I don’t need to brag, I am who I am whether you know it or not. It is the house that is built on the solid rock that will withstand the storm. I’m trying to impress myself not you.” Concluding her rant, she wrote: I just a baby!! I’m gonna show off. You don’t like it? F*ck you from the bottom of my heart
