Don Mitchell
Don Mitchell became very popular with television viewers in the late 1960s as the sidekick to the leading man on “Ironside.” The African-American actor passed away on December 8, 2013 at the age of 70 in Encino, California.
Born on March 17, 1943, in Houston (Texas), Don Michael Mitchell left this town to move to Los Angeles, in order to study acting at UCLA-Fine Art.
After some appearance in series like My fair genius , The fugitive and Bewitched , the producer Collier Young recruited him for a fixed role in Ironside . In this television classic that began airing in 1967, he would play Mark Sanger, an ex-convict who acted as a driver and assistant to the protagonist, a lawyer confined to a wheelchair ( Raymond Burr ).
Later, he was the protagonist together with Pam Grier of Grita Blacula screams (Dracula black 2) , where he faced the black version of Dracula, in the middle of the ‘blaxploitation’ era.
Divorced in 1986 from actress Judy Pace ( Peyton Place ), Don Mitchell leaves behind a daughter, Julia Pace Mitchell, also a performer in titles like The Young and the Restless .
