Playwright-turned-screenwriter-TV producer worked on David Fincher’s “Mindhunter” and other series. Dominic Orlando passed away at age 57, on November 17, 2021, in Washington from cancer.

Born in Brooklyn on Christmas Day 1963, Dominic Orlando began his career as a playwright. He was one of the founders in 1992 of the company “No Pants Theater Company”, based in New York, whose objective was to return to the theater “its original role as a place where society confronts its spiritual self”. After receiving the Jerome and McKnight Fellowships, awarded by the Playwrights’ Center in Minneapolis, he helped launch another theater company, Workhaus Collective.

After moving to Los Angeles, Dominic Orlando began his activity as a television writer. He was responsible for ten chapters of the thriller The OA , from Netflix, and wrote a chapter of Mindhunter , from the same streaming platform. He also penned three Amazon installments of Them and produced SyFy’s Nightflyers .

Most recently, Dominic Orlando was writing and executive producing Outer Range , and Retreat , soon to be released on Amazon and FX.

He is survived by his mother, Lillian; brothers John and Steven; and her sister-in-law Sara.
