Do you feel extremely tired after a day at work? Read how to improve your endurance
Ever wondered why a normal day at work in an air-conditioned office leaves you feeling tired at the end of the day? Doesn’t feel that tiring even after hard work at home… Doesn’t it? And when you mention this to someone, they reply that you’ve just been sitting all day! But that is only partially correct. There is more to your overall fatigue that comes from “sitting” in the office for 8-10 hours. It’s not like you work harder in the office than you do at home. This fatigue is due to a combination of factors such as mental stress, lack of physical exercise, poor eating habits and sometimes dehydration. Here are some ways and tips to build your stamina for an energetic night out:
Hydrate – Water is a magic potion when it comes to providing energy for the body and mind. We don’t realize how important it is to keep your body hydrated throughout the day. The muscle fatigue and dizziness many of us feel could be due to dehydration. Not only is water an all-time drink, but it also curbs cravings for unnecessary chewing that can earn you extra pounds!
Take a walk around the office – How many of us actually get out of our seats and walk around the office? It’s a common practice to continue to sit and wait for another email to be answered before even answering nature’s call! Get up and walk a minute or two if you can’t afford a walk after lunch.
Stretch the knots – If a walk around the office is wrongCaution, then stretch a little at least every hour or two. If you’re too busy to save even 5-7 minutes every hour, do some hand, foot, and neck exercises while you’re seated. Now all you have to do is stand up and straighten your back, arms and legs to get rid of any stiffness and cramps.
Eat on time and eat well – Many of us have a tendency to keep putting off our lunch breaks beyond hunger just so we can get some work done. That’s not fair! While it’s okay to quit all urgent work before lunch (even if you don’t exercise daily), the habit of everyday life isn’t good for your overall health. You may not notice it at this point, but later in the day you may feel exhausted. Eating on time also means eating well. Eating a heavy lunch (of rich sauces and naans !!) will definitely make you feel lousy.
A fruit is good – A good source of energy can be a snack between meals, which can be fruit or a non-fried snack that you can chew during the evening time. One fruit in particular is a very healthy and effective source of energy and keeps you from munching on unhealthy stuff from your co-worker’s drawer!!
Napping – As difficult as it sounds, it’s a very effective way to stay active, focused, and energized, even if you’re working late into the night. Not many of us can afford it in the office, but a 5-10 minute snooze helps you feel refreshed and invigorated for a better quality of work. So, if your boss allows you, take a quick nap, but only a quick one sincerely!
Try these for a month and you will definitely feel the difference. Enjoy your work!
