Do not defend killer bandits because you want dialogue – Shehu Sani
Former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani, blasted those trying to defend the criminal activities of bandits in Nigeria on Tuesday.
Former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani, blasted those trying to defend the criminal activities of bandits in Nigeria on Tuesday.
The former senator stated that there is a thin line between dialoguing and negotiating with bandits for the sake of peace.
He said that even if the bandits have any grievances, killing and kidnapping innocent citizens is not the solution to their issues.
he wrote on Twitter:
“Bandits have no grievance other than rabid crave for criminality, and violence; even if they have grievances, killing and kidnapping innocent poor people is not the path to addressing it. Let this be clear.”
“Those who believe in or supports dialoguing with the armed Bandits for peace should avoid the thin line of defending or justifying their murderous acts and systemic atrocities. Be not possessed or hypnotized by the blood on their hands.”
However, it has been earlier reported that; Shiek Gumi, a renowned cleric in Kaduna claimed that the bandits were not always criminals they only evolved into banditry as a form of self-defence
The cleric further added that the government should grant them amnesty in exchange for the abducted staff and students of Government science college, Kagara.
